Hot weather blanketed much of the area again today with areas on the edge of the heat dealing with another round of heavy rain and flooding this morning. Mother Nature keeps singing the same note and it looks like we’ll end the week with the same tune.
Another round of rain and thunderstorms is likely again tonight over the same areas that have seen recent rainfall, Central Missouri into Southeast Missouri. Severe weather is unlikely and the main hazard will be flooding over these areas.
Friday will continue to be hot in the southwest with the heat dome shrinking to the southwest some. There is a slight chance for spotty showers and thunderstorms, mainly late Friday afternoon with areas further south possibly seeing some wet weather.
The heat dome will continue to shrink to the southwest Saturday, but temperatures will still be hot over southwest Missouri and northwest Arkansas. Rain chances increase throughout the Ozarks with waves of thunderstorm activity at times through the weekend. Flooding and isolated severe weather will continue to be concerns. A cold front is expected to pass through Sunday afternoon into the evening.
Next week will begin with a new look and feel. Monday and Tuesday both look quiet with less humidity and milder temperatures. All in all, a more pleasant feel. Rain and thunderstorm chances likely work back into the area around the middle of next week.
